Maximum Potential Basketball Academy has a been owned and operated by Doug Lee, as the head trainer, league organizer, camp director and facility supervisor since 2003. In 2003 MPBA was just the training parts to South Lyon travel basketball, South Lyon recreation, one of the initial partners to the All Area 4 Star Basketball camp, and Common Bond Basketball. Doug Lee along with a board of parents also started the Tri County basketball league at South Lyon HS (which became Big Cat Basketball). In 2006 MPBA Introduced its League and tournament concept, MXP basketball, to include Pinckney HS and Brighton HS as Tri County was transformed. In order to continuing having the great competition that was started, MXP kept its integrity of providing the best basketball that travel could offer not only allowing school teams, but elite teams like Common Bond, FIST, Michigan Dynamite, AABA, Toledo ICE, Toledo wildcats, CIA Bounce, Toronto Vipers, Great lake warriorz, O3 sports, NWO, and others the best atmosphere and environment to compete playing the game of basketball. As MXP grew we relocated to Saline HS in 2007, where we have enjoyed 10 years of great events. MXP was also the first to include girls’ programs into its’ leagues. As we have grown even more, we now use multiple facilities like High Velocity in Canton, and Swish Zone in Whitmore lake.
MXP basketball will continue to strive to offer the best environment, atmosphere and competitive levels for all travel teams.
Doug Lee, also became a 17u national team coach for Common Bond in 2003. In 2007 coached the PTB youth program as well. In 2010 MPBA elite teams were formed and became a solid place for players to be at their best. With training, development and a style that college coaches like to watch, coach Lee has helped over 80% of his players get the opportunity to play college basketball. 7 of them have played professionally overseas. And 3 of them have come back to aid in the continued development of the program.
Maximum Potential Basketball Academy is the only program designed to allow kids to play, aid in their skill development even if they are not part of the MPBA teams, and provide teams for players to participate at the best level for them.
